Camps and sleepovers are some of the most exciting parts of Scouting. Being well‑prepared helps young people feel confident, comfortable, and ready for adventure.
Read the kit list carefully.
Label everything - clothes, bags, torches, even socks.
Pack together with your child so they know where everything is.
Check the weather forecast and add extra layers if needed.
Sleeping bag and roll mat
Torch (with spare batteries)
Warm layers and waterproofs
Sturdy shoes or boots
Wash kit and towel
Refillable water bottle
Spare clothes in a labelled bag
Any medication, clearly labelled and handed to leaders
Make sure your child has eaten before arrival unless told otherwise.
Bring medication in its original packaging with instructions.
Avoid packing valuables or electronics - they’re not needed and may get lost.
Talk through what to expect: sleeping arrangements, meals, activities.
Reassure them that leaders are there to help with anything.
Encourage them to try everything, even if it’s new.
Camps are where memories are made - and a little preparation goes a long way.
