1st Shifnal Scout Group is a long‑established part of the Shifnal community, giving young people the chance to grow, explore, and develop through Scouting. We provide a structured programme of activities for ages 4 to 14, delivered across four sections and supported by a dedicated team of trained volunteers.
Our aim is simple: to create a space where young people can try new things, build confidence, and learn skills that will stay with them for life. Whether it’s lighting a fire, helping in the community, learning to lead a team, or discovering the outdoors, every activity is designed to help them take the next step in their personal development.
We’re proud to be part of Shifnal’s local fabric. Our members come from across the town and surrounding villages, and we regularly take part in community events, parades, and local initiatives. Many families stay with the group for years as their children move through the sections - and many adults choose to volunteer because of the positive impact Scouting had on them or their children.
Each of our four sections offers age‑appropriate challenges and opportunities. As young people move up through Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts, they take on more responsibility, learn more advanced skills, and gain greater independence. Our volunteers work together to ensure that the transition between sections is smooth and supportive.
1st Shifnal is entirely volunteer‑led. Every weekly meeting, camp, activity, and event happens because adults give their time and energy to make it possible. Parents play a vital role too - from helping occasionally to joining the leadership team or supporting behind the scenes. Scouting works best when the whole community is involved.
We follow The Scouts’ national policies on safeguarding, safety, and inclusion. Every young person is welcome here, and we work hard to make sure our activities are accessible, enjoyable, and supportive for everyone.
