Badges are a big part of Scouting - they celebrate achievements, new skills, and the adventures your young person takes part in. Sewing them on securely helps them stay proud of their uniform and keeps everything looking smart.
Needle
Thread (matching the badge border if possible)
Scissors
Pins or fabric clips (optional)
Check the badge placement diagram for your child’s section to make sure the badge goes in the right place.
Pin the badge where you want it to sit, or hold it in place with fabric clips.
Thread your needle and tie a knot at the end.
Sew small stitches around the edge of the badge, keeping them close together for strength.
Tie off the thread securely on the inside of the uniform.
Check the edges to make sure the badge is fully attached.
Badge glue can help hold badges in place, but sewing is more durable.
If your child earns lots of badges, consider sewing them on in small batches.
Always label uniform - it makes life much easier at camp.
